This is one of the most interesting question I received today from James of London, UK. He mentioned that there is a news published in the UK newspaper and it is a very significant news. Let’s check out together about this news.

UFO X-files News

LONDON (Reuters) – A cluster of UFO sightings over Britain in 1996 may have had more to do with public fascination with TV shows like the “X Files” than extraterrestrial activity, according to files released by the National Archives on Monday.

X-files

X-files

Are there Aliens?

Documents from Britain’s Ministry of Defense (MoD) indicated there were 609 UFO sightings in 1996, compared with 117 in 1995. This coincided with the rise in popularity of the X Files and the release of the alien blockbuster film “Independence Day.”

More from other blogs

There is a interesting video which you can watch to learn more about the UFO:

Is this for real? I don’t know. Am I a skeptic? The main question from James was that is it really possible? I think it is possible as I am sure there might be more earth like planets in other galaxies and the fact is that we don’t know much about many other galaxies.

Any way rather than answering to James question, I just wanted to share about this latest news as this is an interesting story.

I consider Google Base as a site for online classified ads like the Craigslist. Some bloggers call it as an online marketplace like eBay without the auctions.

Google describes Google Base as “a place where you can easily submit all types of online and offline content that Google will host and make searchable online”.

You can use Google Base to post items that you want to sell; other users can search the Google Base database to find items they want to buy. When a match is made, you and the other user arrange payment and shipping between yourselves.

Quick Facts about Google Base

  • Cost: Free
  • How to Submit: You can submit information about all types of online and offline content to Google Base, by either the standard web form or, if you have more than 10 items to submit, via a data feed. When you submit information via the web form, you can attach up to 15 digital files in the following formats: PDF (.pdf), Microsoft Excel (.xls), Text (.txt), HTML (.html), Rich Text Format (.rtf), Word Perfect (.wpd), ASCII, Unicode and XML. Please note: the files you upload may not exceed 20 megabytes total in size, and we reserve the right to review all items in order to ensure they comply with the Google Base Terms and Conditions.
  • Languages: Google Base is currently available in English and German interfaces.
  • Reach: Items you submit to Google Base might be found on Google properties like Google or Google Product Search.
  • How it’s different: Google Base enables you to add attributes describing your content, so that searchers can easily find it. The more popular individual attributes become, the more often we’ll suggest them when others post the same items. Similarly, items that become more popular will show up as suggested item types in the Choose an existing item type drop-down menu.

Why Should You Use Google Base?

If you have information you want to share with others but aren’t sure how to reach them, Google Base is for you. You can easily submit all types of online and offline content to Base, and if your content isn’t online yet, we’ll put it there. You can describe any item you post with attributes, which will help people find it when they do related searches. In fact, based on your items’ relevance, users may find them in their results for searches on Google Product Search and even our main Google web search. The main benefits of Google Base include:

  • Free content hosting
Google Base represents a new opportunity to put any kind of content online, even if it isn’t a web page.
  • Distribution
By bringing offline content online, Google Base is more accessible and useful. Even online content becomes more ‘discoverable’ when users are able to refine their search results based on attributes. You can also link users to your own website, thus making your content far more accessible to the world.
  • Ease of Use
Now you can go to one place to upload content to Google. You can post individual items by completing a simple web form or submit a data feed with ten or more items in standard formats such as TSV, RSS 1.0 and RSS 2.0.

Best of all, Google Base is entirely free. And you’re always in control; you can edit or archive your items whenever you want.

Google’s goal is to organize the world’s information, and that includes almost anything you might want to contribute, whether it’s your store inventory, collection of original poetry, or research paper on cancer receptors. You can submit your information using either the standard web form or, if you have more than 10 items to submit, via google data feed options.

Wishing you fun with Google Base,

Jay Author

If you’ve ever used BizRate, NexTag, Shopping.com, and similar price comarison sites, you might be under the impression that these sites scour the Web for prices from a wide variety of online retailers. That’s a false impression; instead, these sites build their price/product databases from product links submitted and paid for by participating retailers. That’s right, most price comparison sites charge retailers to be included in their listings.

Google Product Search isn’t like all the other price comparison sites. Google is completely objective, it doesn’t take money for its listings, instead sending its spider software to independently scour the Web for merchants and products. So Google Product Search is a pure search engine.

Not only are Google’s results untainted by product placement, it also typically returns more results for any given item you’re shopping for.

Google Product Search (formerly called Froogle) helps you locate products instantly on the web and comparison-shop according to price, features, customer ratings, and more. It isn’t a store in itself but rather a searchable database of millions of products sold on the web. So if you’ve got a product in mind but aren’t wedded to a particular merchant, the Google Product Search search engine will collect a wide array of options for you and then give you the tools to zero in on the best buy.

How to Use Google Product Search?

The best way to use Google Product Search is by putting in the keyword like product name, model number, brand name or the combination of the same. Google Product Search will present you with a page of products that match with your keyword.

There are five ways in which you can rank the products displayed in your Google Product Search search results:
  1. By relevance: Ranks the products according to what Google Product Search considers most relevant to your keywords. Unless you change the “sort by” setting, Google Product Search automatically organizes by relevance.
  2. By price, low to high: Ranks the least expensive products higher.
  3. By price, high to low: Ranks the most expensive products higher. Though few consumers are looking to pay the highest price, this ranking will help give you a sense of the full range of prices.
  4. Product rating: Ranks according to product reviews.
  5. Seller rating: Ranks according to the merchants’ credibility and consumer ratings

Product Search Shopping and Wish Lists

Just because you’re not ready to enter your credit card number this instant doesn’t mean you have to lose track of the products you’ve discovered on Google Product Search.

Shopping List

The shopping list helps you keep track of products that you’re considering purchasing.
  1. Click on the “My Shopping List” link on the Google Product Search homepage.
  2. Sign up for a free Google account if you don’t already have one.
  3. When you find an item of interest to you on Google Product Search, click on “Add to Shopping List.”
  4. Check back into “My Shopping List” to view your shopping cart of goodies and to arrange them comparatively.

Wish List

The wish list lets you highlight products that you definitely want to buy—or want someone else to buy for you.
  1. Weed through the items in your Shopping List to pinpoint your favorites.
  2. Check the In Wish List box below the items you want.
  3. Wait for Santa Claus to look up your Wish List on Google Product Search. You can look for anyone’s Wish List by entering his or her email address into the Find a Wish List field on the Shopping List page

Enjoy the Google Product Search to get the bargains,

Jay Author

Do you know that you can use google to search for tracking information from UPS, FedEx, and other shipping companies? Let us explore what else we can do with Google to find out other information.

Google for Searching Facts

If you are looking for the hard facts, google can be a great help. So if you phrase your query correctly and if google has indexed that information, you can get the precise information you need at the top of the search results page.

So Fact-based information could be birthdates, birthplaces, population etc. If you want to find out where Mark Twain was born, enter ‘birthplace mark twain’ in the search box query.

Google for Weather Information

Do you know that Google can be used to find and display current weather conditions and forecasts? It’s a pretty easy search; all you have to do it enter the keyword ‘weather’, followed by the location. You can enter the location as a city name, city plus state, or ZIP code.

Google for Travel Information

Do you know that you can get travel information like weather at the Airport, flight delays etc? To search for weather conditions and delays at a particular airport, all you have to do is enter the airport’s three-letter code, followed by the word ‘airport’.

Google also lets you track the status of any US flight, and many international flights. All you have to do is enter the flight number into the google search box.

Google for UPS Tracking Number

If you want to track a package that was sent via UPS, all you have to do is enter the UPS tracking number. If you want o see what product is attached to a specific UPC (universal product code), just enter the bar code number.

Google for Movies

You can use the standard google search box to look up movie reviews and show times. All you have to do is enter the word ‘movies’ followed by the name of the movie. To view a list of reviews for this movie, click the movie title.

Google for Music

Google knows the names of tens of thousands of popular performers; all you have to do is enter the performer’s name in the search box, and google returns specific information about that performer.

Needless to say you can do a lot with google for all the special information,
